During 2011, If I Could Fly has been nominated for the Waterstone’s Children’s Book Award 2011, The People’s Book Award 2011, the Brilliant Book Award and the Redbridge Children’s Book Award, 2012.
It was also chosen by LoveReading4Kids.co.uk as a 2011 ‘Great Read’.
For World Book Day in 2012, Jill will be working with Year 7 and 8 students in Sussex and Kent, running creative writing workshops on If I Could Fly and Samphire Song.
During 2011, Jill appeared at Hay-on-Wye and Brighton Literary Festivals and was author-in-residence, with author Kate O’Hearn, at National Trust properties Bodiam Castle and Batemans in East Sussex.
Drama projects in development include a full-length play and a radio adaptation of Deeper Than Blue.
Samphire Song was published in July by Egmont and became a best-seller at Waterstone’s and a Recommended Read at LoveReading4Kids.co.uk.
November 2011, Jill was the guest author on Flutteringbutterflies blog and Girlsheartbooks blog, writing about the inspiration for her books.
Deeper Than Blue was published in Holland in May 2011 by Unieboek, titled Tot Op De Bodem, and by Bayard Jeunesse in France in September 2011, titled L’année où tout a changé.
Jill was the invited speaker for the Youth Librarians’ Conference and Carnegie training day in Crawley in October.
